ZGMF-X42S Destiny

SD fans, we started our year with the guiding lights, walked the path with great men, and finally reach…

our Destiny!

image

Yes, the SD Destiny Gundam! An awesome kit to have. And here’s why.

image

Now, what I like about SD’s is that, despite its scale, Bandai always manages to capture a unit’s essence, and includes everything in a kit. What do I mean?

Destiny‘s “Wings of Light” is included in this SD kit unlike its other scale versions where you need to buy the “Wings of Light” seperately.

image

As for the gimmicks, the Destiny comes with its High Energy Rifle, Beam Shield, a pair of Beam Boomerangs.

image

Shinn Asuka’s weapon of choice, the “Arondight” Beam Sword.

image

The High-Energy Long-Range Beam Cannon and Destiny‘s ever famous “Palma Fiocina” Palm Beam Cannons!

image

This kit’s articulation is very good, reminisced of Generation Neo’s Shining Gundam.

image

Strike-a-pose!!

image

image

Details, very good details. Especially the Palm Beam Cannons.

image

SD Dude’s verdict? A very good kit! Lots of gimmicks! Wings of Light! (Yeah those wings!) Articulation is great, giving the kit flexibility for poses. Details is good even without panel lines, but needs painting for the kit to be color acurate.

SD fans! Onwards to our Destiny!!

Till the next kit,
SD Dude

Men of Destiny; GPO3D and NEUE-ZIEL

Universal Century 0083. The battle between Kou Uraki and Anavel Gato, reaches to a climax. Operation Stardust is on the way….

image

Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory showcases some of the most awesome battles scenes and mobile suits of the gundam franchise. Especially the RX-78GPO3 Dendrobium, piloted by federation pilot Kou Uraki and the AMX-002 Neue-Ziel, piloted by ace pilot Anavel Gato “Nightmare of Solomon” of the remnants of Zeon.

The “Men of Destiny”, rivals of their time, their Mobile Suits as kits, reviewed by SD Dude. Awesome! 😉

An with all that, we start off with the RX-78GPO3D.

image

A very nice kit. It’s giant container/backpack or whatever you might call it (it’s actually called “Dendrobium Orchis”), makes me wish that Bandai would make an SD version of Gundam Seed’s Meteor Unit (the SDGO SD line has one) and Gundam 00’s GN-ARMS, which would have been epic but they chose not to. Still, I won’t give up. Bandai, please, please, please make it happen. 😉 Anyway…

The kit includes the GPO3 Gundam which can dock with the Dendrobium Orchis.

image

The GPO3‘s size and articulations is that of the Generation F standard.

image

Which is kind of small in size and limited articulation compared to recent SD releases. However, the kit still retains the gimmicks despite its scale.

image

The weapons container hatches open.

image

The Mega Beam Cannon and the two Large Claws with its Large Beam Saber.

image

As for the details, panel lining is needed to fully appreciate the kit. Paint is needed as well.

Now, the AMX-002 Neue-Ziel.

image

This has a feel like a 1/144 scale kit with its size and proportion. The kit looks good but it should have been bigger, atleast the size of the SD Neo Zeong.

It is a “mono-eye” mobile armor. Stickers were used for its eye, unlike what is used in recent SD releases like the SD Sinanju or the SD Sazabi.

image

As for articulation, its a mobile armor so there is really not much. Only the pair of Heavy Claw arms, boosters, and its head can move. Despite this, the kit still has its gimmicks.

The wired Heavy Claw, Sub Arms and Beam Saber.

image

Panel lining and paint is needed for this kit as it lacks color detail, especially for the Mega Beam Cannon, Mega Particle Cannons, Boosters and Missile Launchers.

image

The SD Neue-Ziel is pretty decent and fun. It’s a Generation F kit so it would be great if they would re-release this kit with the latest gunpla tech.

Overall, both kit lacks details but each kit has its own charms which still makes them great and definitely a must for SD fans.

The RX-78GPO3, the Neue-Ziel, truly suited for the “Men of Destiny”.

Till the next kit,
SD Dude

*Note: most of the kits that I review is Snap-built/direct assembled so that SD fans would know what to expect when they unbox a kit.

SDnatic of the month, JAN 2015

SD fans!! These are the lights that will lighten up our 2015! Any idea what this is?

image

Yes, they are gunplas! And their eyes are glowing!!

image

Guess what? These are the work of our SDnatic for this month. Mr. Jerry a.k.a “TYRANT”.

image

Who is this SD fanatic? Let’s find out…

Q: It’s a great honor to have, the “TYRANT” here with us. So, how does it feel to be featured as SDnatic of the month??

A: It is my pleasure to be here.. A newbie? In this awesome blog interview, is GREAT!!

Q: Can you share to us, who TYRANT is?

A: Tyrant’s fullname is JERRY JOHN CRUZ GOITI JR. and declaring myself an SD LOVER x Technologist.. haha.. A 24-yr old SDDUDE that loves to explore any kind of stuff in this world..

Q: What Gundam series brought you to the world of Gundam and why?

A: Actually, SD GUNDAM FORCE is my favorite! Since I was an Highschool dude, I always look forward, watching it on Cartoon Network along with DAIGUNDER on Animax, while I was playing Pokemon Trading Card Game with my childhood pals and cousin! But, I wasn’t able to finish the show luckily, there is youtube and I can watch them like before.

Q: Who is you favorite Gundam character? What did you like about him/her?

A: Gundam Characters? To tell you honestly I’m not a fan but HEERO YUY,  I can say is my favorite because he piloted Gundam Epyon at first!

Q: What is your favorite mobile suit?

A: There are plenty of MS that I like but I would say that OZ-13MS Gundam Epyon is one of my favorite!!

Let’s talk about Gunpla.

Q: Why did you to start Gunpla building?

A: At first, when I was 15 yrs old. One of my childhood pal gave me an RX 78-2 *”Lolo” Gundam scaling 1/144 old school as a gift for my 15th Birthday.. Thats my first gunpla! Sad to say it was on our old house in Las Piñas together with my digimon and pokemon figures..

*(lolo = granpa,  RX 78 gundam is know for as the grand grand grand, oh you know what I mean… 🙂 )

Q: How long have you been building gunpla?

A: I started to build gunpla, when I was 15. Due to non-profitable kid back then, and none came after that and because my friends and I preferred Pokemon TCG before.

Q: What was your very first kit and why did you chose that model?

A: Like I said awhile ago, RX 78-2 HG Gundam is my very first kit. Actually, I didnt chose that oldschool dude, because its just a gift for me..

Q: Is TYRANT an SD fan?

A: I would like to say that I, Jerry John Tyrant Cruz Goiti Jr. is a CERTIFIED SD FAN even without any CERTIFICATE! Just kidding.. haha

Q: What do SD models have, that caught your attention and inspired you to collect?

A: Sinanju SD caught my attention on that day because it is red and that is one of my KUMANDER’s pick back then .. and that’s my first ever SD kit and from that moment, new friends came along… a total of 7 SDs..

Q: What is your favorite SD kit? Why?

A: My favorite SD Kits?? Hmmmm.. That’s hard! Grabe!! All of our SD of my Kumander are our favorite!! But i would like to say that Epyon SD is one of my favorite. (for the sake of picking one, hope the others won’t feel bad! Naku!)

image

Q: As we have seen, you custom your SD models to have their eyes lit. How did you come up with this customization, the “TYRANT custom”?

A: Why #tyrantcustom? to tell you frankly dude, Tyrant is my Nickname during my college days and my codename since i was grade 6 i think? Hehe.. I remember a book before(don’t remember the title) when i was in grade school, there is a Vampire named Tyrant, the highlight of the story is Tyrant the vampire is “compassionate” with his slaves, he was a leader but moody and sometimes cruel and kill bad vampires “vampanese” .. I found him cool so there.. then I used his name”TYRANT” on Online Games, etc. #TyrantCustom has a hidden meaning also, I saw before, a picture of the glowing red eyes of Resident Evil T-virus “Tyrant” so that’s it..

SD fans, look forward for TYRANT’s how to “TYRANT custom”.

Q: How many SD models you have now?

A: As of this moment, me and my kumander has 41 built kits , 3 SD horse, 5 unbuilt kits and including my only MG kit, Epyon.

And many more to come?

A: Ofcourse!! But it’s gonna be the last one, the one that I bought this Christmas! (I think I already said this before, but in a different statement) haha..

Now that is an SD fan!!

Q: Do you have a dream SD kit or is there a kit that you really want? Or an SD kit that you hope bandai would make?

A: For my Dream SD kit that I want, I rather wish for a BEARGUY SD!! Haha!! And that’s BANDAI for sure! Hope its not IMPOSSIBLE! haha!

A lot of SD fans really want a BEARGUY SD!!

To finish things up, how about a word of inspiration to other SD fanatics?

TYRANT: Since I am a filipino, I would say that ” kapag tayo ay nagbi-build ng SD GUNPLA, gamitin natin ang ating mga IMAHINASYON at DISKARTE!” (“When we build SD Gunpla, let  us use our IMAGINATION and RESOURCEFULNESS!”)

“TANDAAN, HINDI MO MALALAMAN KUNG HINDI MO SUSUBUKAN!”
(“REMEMBER, I WON’T KNOW UNTIL YOU TRY!”)

Thank you so much.

image

And thank you also Mr. Jerry for letting us, know you. Keep buildin’!! And more love for SD!!

Every month, we will be featuring a fellow SDnatic!! Those whose love for SD Gunpla go way beyond…If your one of us, or knows someone who is, just let me know.

Till the next kit,
SD Dude
